RIP BRO (ALEC MCDONALD) also knows as MARS

from this - to this

Police searching for missing Dundee 16-year-old Alec McDonald were today investigating the discovery of a body in a field close to a hotel on the city’s western outskirts (writes Graeme Strachan). Police said a man out walking his dog this morning found the body of a young man behind the Landmark Hotel just off Kingsway West.

While there are said to be no apparent suspicious circumstances, the area was cordoned off by police. It’s understood the body may have lain in the field for some time.

Police are still the process of establishing the man’s identity, which will not be released until formal identification has taken place and next of kin informed.

The grim find comes just over a month after the disappearance of 16-year-old Alec from his home in the Menzieshill area.

Alec, previously described by police as a “vulnerable missing person”, was last seen at about 11.30pm on January 27 in the Longforgan area. Police appeals for information followed and missing person posters were put up across the city.

A fortnight ago a Dundee detective issued a direct appeal for Alec to come forward after a series of possible sightings in the west of the city.

Detective Sergeant John McInally said a few people had been in touch after spotting someone matching the description of the missing teenager.

The appeal was fruitless, however, and police said they were becoming increasingly concerned Alec’s welfare.

Detective Inspector Bobby Dow said, “Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances into the death. However, at this stage it is far too early to say if there are any suspicious circumstances.”

DI Dow said it was too early to say how long the man’s body had lain there. CID and Scenes of Crime officers remained at the scene at lunchtime and public access to the field was restricted.

One Landmark Hotel employee said, “The old guy came into the hotel and stuttered out that he had found a body.”
